The honest part first: I work from Kathmandu
There is no Melbourne office, no Victorian address and no local team. If face-to-face meetings are part of how you want to buy and manage marketing, a Melbourne agency is the right choice and I will say so on the call.
What distance does not change: the search results, the ranking factors, the Search Console data and the tools are the same from here. Research is done in google.com.au for the suburbs you actually serve. What it does change is the fee, which reflects Kathmandu costs rather than Melbourne salaries, and the rhythm of the work, which is scheduled calls plus written updates.
The one hard limit is your Google Business Profile. It has to reflect a real address or service area in Melbourne, and no consultant should offer you a workaround. What I do is make the profile you already own work much harder.
Melbourne sectors where my experience applies
- Education and student recruitment. Melbourne’s universities, colleges and the agencies that recruit for them compete on course and pathway searches, and I work on both sides of that market: see education SEO and education consultancy SEO. Nepal is one of the larger source countries for international students, so the search behavior at the origin end is something I see every week.
- Healthcare and allied health. Clinics, dentists and physiotherapists competing suburb by suburb. See healthcare SEO and dental SEO.
- Retail and online stores. Melbourne has a dense retail and independent brand scene where the same product sells nationally and locally at once. See eCommerce SEO.
- Trades and home services. Plumbers, electricians, builders and cleaners fighting over suburb-level searches where the map pack decides most of the outcome. See home services SEO.
- Hospitality. Cafes, restaurants and venues whose customers search on a phone, ten minutes before deciding. See restaurant SEO.
- Professional services. Accountants, lawyers and consultancies where the enquiry is worth enough to justify sustained content work. See professional services SEO.
Local search in a city of strong neighbourhood identities
Melbourne customers search by suburb more than by city. Someone in Brunswick, Richmond or Glen Waverley expects results from their own area, and a single page targeting “Melbourne” is too generic to win any of them. What actually moves local rankings:
- Google Business Profile maintained rather than filled in once: the correct primary category, real service areas, individually listed services, fresh photographs and answered questions. See Google Business Profile optimization.
- A review routine that produces a steady flow with replies, instead of a burst every twelve months.
- Suburb pages with something real on them: jobs done there, travel times, local considerations, prices. Templated suburb pages with the name swapped out have been discounted for years.
- Consistent citations across directories, with one exact name, address and phone number.
- Organic service pages, because plenty of Melbourne searches show a map pack and then a page of results that convert perfectly well.
The method is set out on local SEO; multi-site businesses should read multi-location SEO.
What a Melbourne engagement includes
- Technical audit and implementation, including Core Web Vitals and post-redesign cleanup. See technical SEO.
- Keyword research on google.com.au for your services and suburbs, not a US keyword set.
- Content briefs and copy in Australian English, one search intent per page.
- Local SEO, Google Business Profile and review systems.
- Links earned through Australian and industry outreach.
- GA4 and Google Tag Manager conversion tracking installed and verified before results are judged.
- Paid campaigns where they fit: Google Ads for Australian businesses and Meta Ads for Australian businesses.
Hours, currency and working pattern
Nepal is four and a quarter hours behind Melbourne on AEST and five and a quarter behind on AEDT, so my working day covers your afternoon and early evening. Calls are in your afternoon; everything else is written, with replies within 4 business hours on business days. Fees are quoted per scope after a free 30-minute call, invoiced monthly in AUD, month to month, and are on request. Access, invoicing and reporting arrangements for overseas clients are on working with international clients.
Start with a free audit
Request a free SEO audit and I will record a walk-through of what is holding your site back in Melbourne results and what I would fix first, with no obligation. The published Australian results are in the case studies, the national page is SEO expert for Australian businesses, and the other cities are Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. To talk first, book a call.
