Who this is for
Australian small and mid-sized businesses that need a Google Ads specialist rather than an agency: mortgage and finance brokers, clinics and allied health, law firms, trades and home services, tour operators, medical equipment and B2B suppliers, and online stores. Typically you are spending four figures a month in AUD, you have had an agency or a freelancer before, and you cannot say with confidence what a lead costs. If you are a Nepal-based business, the Google Ads services hub is the better starting point.
Proof from an Australian account
Better Broking, a mortgage brokerage, was running Google Ads on broad match with no conversion tracking and a structure that did not separate loan types or locations. I rebuilt the account: Tag Manager tracking for forms and calls, themed ad groups on exact and phrase match, new responsive search ads, negative keyword lists, and a move to Target CPA after 30 days of clean data. In 60 days cost per acquisition fell 35%, the account produced 40+ leads a month and Quality Score rose from 5 to 8. Other Australian accounts I have managed include Macquarie Medical and MoleMax Systems. Details are in my case studies.
What is different about Australian accounts
- Location targeting by state and radius. Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth behave like separate markets with different CPCs, so campaigns are split by region and bid separately, using “presence” targeting so you do not pay for overseas searchers.
- Australian spelling and units in ad copy. Ads and landing pages use Australian English, AUD pricing and local phone formats; Quality Score notices the mismatch when they do not.
- Ad schedules in AEST and AEDT. Call ads run when your office answers, adjusted twice a year for daylight saving, which many offshore-managed accounts forget.
- Tighter browser privacy. A higher share of iOS and Safari traffic means enhanced conversions and clean conversion tracking matter more than in Nepal.
- Competitive CPCs. Finance, legal and home services in Australia are among the more expensive auctions anywhere, which is why negatives, match types and Auction Insights are worked weekly, not monthly.
Working across time zones
Nepal is UTC+5:45. Sydney is four hours and fifteen minutes ahead during standard time and five hours and fifteen minutes ahead during daylight saving; Perth is two hours and fifteen minutes ahead. In practice, my working day begins around 8:00 to 9:00 am in Kathmandu, which is early afternoon on the east coast, so we overlap for most of your afternoon for calls. The rest of my day runs into your evening, which means the account is being worked on after your office has closed and reports are waiting when you open your laptop the next morning. Day-to-day communication is asynchronous by email, Slack or WhatsApp, with a scheduled fortnightly or monthly call.
Compared with an offshore agency in India or the Philippines
Australian businesses are often pitched offshore management from India or the Philippines. The comparison below is about the model, not about any particular company; the questions in the right-hand column are the ones I would ask any provider, including me.
| Factor | Typical offshore agency model | Working with me | What to ask any provider |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who does the work | Account manager fronts the relationship; execution by a team you may not meet | One specialist does the strategy, the setup and the weekly work | Who will be logged into my account on a Tuesday? |
| Time zone overlap | India UTC+5:30 and the Philippines UTC+8 both overlap Australian afternoons | UTC+5:45, overlapping your afternoon; account worked into your evening | When can I get a same-day answer? |
| Tracking | Varies; often set up once and not re-tested | Built in GTM, test-fired before spend, re-checked monthly | Show me a test conversion firing in my account. |
| Contract | Frequently 6 or 12 months | Month to month | What happens to my account if I leave? |
| Ownership | Sometimes the agency’s account or manager account | Your Google Ads account, GA4 and GTM, in your name | Is the account in my name? |
| Currency | AUD or USD | AUD invoicing by bank transfer or Wise | Are there currency or card surcharges? |
How an engagement starts
- Free discovery call over Zoom or Google Meet in your afternoon.
- Free audit of your existing account, or a scoping plan for a new one, returned in writing within a week.
- Proposal with the fee in AUD, the recommended budget and the first month’s plan.
- Access granted to your existing account; tracking rebuilt and verified.
- Restructure staged so performance does not drop while the new structure learns.
- Weekly optimization, monthly report and dashboard, calls on a schedule that suits you.
The weekly work itself is described under PPC management; the campaign types most Australian clients use are Search Ads, Performance Max and remarketing, with Shopping Ads for online stores.
Pricing for Australian clients
Management is a fixed monthly fee in AUD, separate from your ad spend, which you pay to Google directly. The fee sits below what an Australian agency charges for a senior specialist on the account because my costs are Kathmandu costs, not Sydney costs. I recommend a starting budget of AUD 1,000 to 2,000 a month for most service businesses, more in finance and legal. The factors that set the fee are on the Google Ads packages and pricing page, and the wider arrangement for overseas clients is described under working with international clients.
The first step is a free Google Ads audit: send read-only access and I will return a written summary of tracking, structure and wasted spend before we discuss management.
