Google Merchant Center & Feed Management

Google Merchant Center setup and product feed management is the part of my Google Ads services that decides whether your products are eligible to show at all, and for which searches. I set up the account, fix what Google rejects, and rewrite the feed so Shopping campaigns and Performance Max spend on the right products.

  • Disapprovals fixed at the source
  • Titles written the way people search
  • Nepal is a supported Merchant Center country

Why the feed decides what Shopping can do

Shopping Ads and Performance Max have no keywords. Google reads your product feed, matches its titles, descriptions, categories and identifiers to searches, and declines to show anything it considers inaccurate or incomplete. A store with weak titles and missing GTINs can raise bids all it likes and still be invisible for the searches that convert. Merchant Center is also where suspensions start: a price that does not match the landing page, a missing return policy or a checkout Google could not complete will stop every product from serving. This service exists because the campaign can only be as good as the feed underneath it.

Who this is for

Online stores selling into Australia, the UK, the USA, Canada, the UAE or Nepal, on Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento or a custom platform. Nepal is a supported Merchant Center country, so a Kathmandu store can list for buyers inside Nepal as well as for the countries it ships to. It also suits stores whose Merchant Center account is already suspended or whose products are largely disapproved, and agencies that need feed work done without taking on a full management retainer. Campaign management itself is covered under Google Shopping Ads.

What feed management includes

Merchant Center account setup

Account creation under your Google login, website claim and verification, business information, shipping and tax settings for each country you sell to, return and refund policy pages that satisfy Google’s checks, and the store-quality signals Google now scores, such as checkout speed and clear contact details.

Feed source per platform

Shopify’s Google channel, the WooCommerce product feed plugin, Magento extensions, a Content API connection or a scheduled Google Sheet, chosen by how often prices and stock change and by what your developer can support. Price and availability sync is checked so the feed never shows a price the page does not.

Title and attribute optimization

Titles rewritten in the order shoppers search (brand, product, defining attribute, size, colour or model), full descriptions, Google product category and product type filled to the deepest level, GTIN, MPN and brand supplied where they exist, and image requirements met. This is where most of the match improvement comes from.

Supplemental feeds and feed rules

Changes are made in supplemental feeds and rules inside Merchant Center rather than in your product database, so optimization does not wait for a developer and does not affect your storefront.

Custom labels

Labels for margin, bestsellers, seasonal lines, clearance and price bands, so campaigns can bid differently on each group instead of treating a NPR 900 accessory like a NPR 90,000 appliance.

Disapprovals and suspensions

Each disapproval is traced to its cause: price mismatch, missing identifier, image with promotional text, policy category, or a landing page that redirects. Fixes are applied at the source, and misrepresentation suspensions are worked through the review process with the evidence Google asks for. Related account-level issues are covered under account suspension and policy compliance.

Free listings, promotions and local inventory

Free product listings are enabled alongside paid, promotions and sale-price annotations are set up where you run offers, and local inventory ads are configured for retailers with physical stock who want in-store pickup in the results.

How a feed project runs

  1. Access to Merchant Center, the store admin and Google Ads; export of the current feed and the diagnostics report.
  2. Account settings, policies and verification corrected first, so nothing else is blocked.
  3. Feed source chosen or repaired; sync frequency and price accuracy tested.
  4. Title, category and attribute rewrite, starting with the products that carry most revenue.
  5. Custom labels and supplemental feeds added; disapprovals cleared in priority order.
  6. Campaign structure updated so Shopping and Performance Max use the new labels.
  7. Monthly feed health check: new disapprovals, out-of-stock rates, price mismatches, new products without attributes.

What you receive

  • A verified Merchant Center account in your name with shipping, tax and policies configured.
  • An optimized feed with documented title and attribute rules you can keep applying to new products.
  • Custom labels mapped to a campaign structure.
  • A diagnostics record showing disapprovals before and after, and a monthly feed report if you keep me on.

Pricing and next step

Feed setup is a one-off project quoted per store; ongoing feed management is included in PPC management for stores I run campaigns for, and the ranges are on the packages and pricing page. If products are already disapproved or the account is suspended, send access for a free Google Ads audit and I will include the Merchant Center diagnostics in the written summary.

Frequently asked questions

Can a store in Nepal use Google Merchant Center?

Yes. Nepal is a supported Merchant Center country, so a Nepal-based store can list products for buyers in Nepal, and for other countries if it ships there and can quote shipping and returns for them. The account needs a verified website, clear contact details and a return policy Google can read.

Why are my products disapproved?

The most common reasons I find are price or availability on the page not matching the feed, missing GTINs for branded products, images with text overlays or watermarks, incomplete shipping settings, and landing pages that redirect or are slow to load. The diagnostics tab names the policy; the fix is usually in the store, not in Merchant Center.

Do I need a developer for feed changes?

Not for most of them. Supplemental feeds and feed rules let me change titles, categories and labels inside Merchant Center without touching your product database. A developer is needed only if the feed source itself is broken or if prices and stock are not syncing.

What is the difference between this and Shopping Ads management?

This service is the feed and the Merchant Center account: eligibility, data quality and disapprovals. Shopping Ads management is the campaign side: structure, bids, negatives and budgets. Stores I manage get both; stores with their own campaign manager can hire the feed work alone.

How often should the feed be checked?

Monthly at least, and weekly for large catalogues or stores that change prices often. New products arrive without attributes, promotions expire, and Google adds policy checks; a feed that was clean in January can be half disapproved by April without anyone noticing.
