AI Search Optimization Services

My AI search optimization services (AIO) cover how your business appears when people ask Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity or Gemini instead of scanning ten blue links. Four services sit under this hub: answer engine optimization, generative engine optimization, AI Overviews optimization and an AI visibility audit. This page explains each, and is specific about what can be measured today and what cannot.

  • Own brand citation tracking in AI answers
  • Built on SEO practice since 2018
  • Nepal, Australia, UK, USA

What AI search optimization is, without the hype

AI search systems answer the question directly and cite a handful of sources. Being one of those sources, or being named when someone asks “which SEO consultant in Kathmandu” or “best trekking company for Everest Base Camp”, is the new visibility problem. The underlying requirements are familiar: pages that answer a specific question clearly, facts that are consistent across the web, structured data, a crawlable site and a brand that other sites mention. What is new is the format of the answer, the way sources are selected and the difficulty of measuring any of it. AI search optimization is the part of my SEO services that applies to this format. It is not a replacement for SEO; the pages that get cited are overwhelmingly the pages that already rank.

Who this is for

  • Businesses watching informational traffic fall as AI Overviews answer the question on the results page.
  • Brands that want to know whether ChatGPT and Perplexity mention them, and how, when buyers ask for recommendations.
  • Companies in Australia, the UK and the USA, where AI Overviews and AI Mode are most widely rolled out, whose category queries now show an AI answer.
  • Nepali businesses preparing for the same, as coverage for Nepal and Nepali-language queries expands.

The four services in this sub-silo

Answer engine optimization (AEO) structures pages so that a specific question gets a direct, quotable answer: the question as a heading, the answer in the first sentences, supporting detail after, FAQ and HowTo schema where they fit, and consistent facts across your site and your profiles. It is the foundation for featured snippets, voice assistants and AI answers alike, and it is where most businesses should start because it also improves ordinary rankings.
Generative engine optimization (GEO) is aimed at large language model assistants such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude: making your brand and pages the kind of source these systems retrieve and cite. That means being present in the sources they draw on (your own site, Wikipedia-class references, directories, reviews, press, industry lists), keeping entity information consistent, and publishing original information worth citing. Some of what is sold as “LLMO” or “ChatGPT SEO” is speculation; the page separates what has evidence from what does not.
Google AI Overviews and AI Mode optimization deals with Google specifically: which of your queries trigger an AI Overview, which sources it cites, how to become one of them, and how AI Mode’s follow-up questions change what a page needs to cover. Because AI Overviews draw on Google’s index and ranking systems, this is the service most continuous with conventional SEO.
AI visibility audit and tracking is the measurement service: a baseline of where your brand appears and does not across AI Overviews and the main assistants for a fixed set of prompts, tracked on a schedule, alongside the referral traffic AI systems send. It is the service to order first if you want evidence before spending on the others.

What is measurable today, and what is not

Measurable nowPartly measurableNot measurable yet
Referral sessions and conversions from chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai, gemini.google.com and similar sources in GA4Whether an AI Overview appears for a tracked query set, and which sources it cites, sampled by tools or by hand from a given locationImpressions and clicks from AI Overviews as a separate line: Search Console includes them in normal totals without a breakdown
Rankings, clicks and impressions for the underlying pages, as beforeWhether an assistant names your brand for a set of recorded prompts, sampled on a schedule; answers vary by session, location and model versionHow many people saw your brand inside an AI answer and did not click
Crawl activity from AI crawlers (GPTBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended and others) in server logsShare of voice against competitors within sampled answers, as a trend rather than a precise figureA reliable “AI ranking” position; the systems do not rank in a stable list
Structured data validity and entity consistency across your profilesCorrelation between content changes and later citations, with weeks of lag and noiseAttribution of a sale to an AI answer the buyer read a week earlier

I report the first column as fact, the second as sampled evidence with the method stated, and I do not report the third at all. Any vendor showing you a precise “AI visibility score” is presenting a sample as a measurement.

How an AI search engagement runs

  1. Baseline audit. A prompt set built from your keyword map and buyer questions; sampled across AI Overviews and the main assistants; AI referrals and crawler activity pulled from GA4 and logs. Delivered through the AI visibility audit.
  2. Foundation check. Crawlability for AI crawlers, structured data, entity consistency (name, address, descriptions, founders, products) across site, profiles and directories; fixed with the technical SEO and schema markup services.
  3. Content work. Answer-first restructuring of the pages that should be cited, new pages for the questions in the prompt set, and original data or explanations that give an assistant a reason to cite you rather than a competitor, planned with content SEO and strategy.
  4. Off-site presence. Mentions and listings in the sources the systems draw on, through the same outreach as link building.
  5. Re-sampling and reporting. The prompt set re-run monthly, changes noted with the method, and referrals and rankings reported alongside.

My position on the current claims

Three things are supported by evidence: pages that rank well are far more likely to be cited; clear, direct answers with consistent facts get quoted more often; and off-site mentions influence what assistants say about a brand. Three things are not: that any file or tag guarantees inclusion, that content written “for AI” in a particular style is favoured, or that a stable ranking inside an assistant can be bought or engineered. I will apply the first three and decline to sell the second three. The plain-language explainer for readers who want the background is the AI search optimization guide.

Pricing

AI visibility tracking and answer-format work are included at the Growth and Enterprise tiers on the SEO packages and pricing page; the audit is available standalone.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between AEO, GEO and AI Overviews optimization?

AEO structures pages to give direct answers, which serves featured snippets, voice assistants and AI answers alike. GEO targets large language model assistants such as ChatGPT and Perplexity, where off-site presence and entity consistency matter as much as your own pages. AI Overviews optimization is Google-specific and draws on Google's ranking systems. They overlap heavily, and I scope them together rather than selling three separate programmes.

Is AI search optimization replacing SEO?

No. The sources AI systems cite are drawn overwhelmingly from pages that already rank, and Google's AI Overviews are built on its normal index. AI search optimization adds an answer-first content format, stricter entity consistency and off-site presence to an SEO programme. A business with no organic visibility cannot buy its way into AI answers.

Can you measure my brand's visibility in ChatGPT?

Only by sampling. I run a fixed set of prompts on a schedule, from stated locations and model versions, and record whether and how your brand appears. Answers vary between sessions, so results are reported as a trend with the method stated, not as a precise score. Referral traffic from chatgpt.com to your site is measurable exactly in GA4.

Do AI Overviews reduce my traffic?

For informational queries, often yes: the answer is given on the results page and fewer people click. For commercial and local queries the effect is smaller and being cited can bring qualified visitors. The AI visibility audit identifies which of your queries now show an AI Overview and whether your pages are cited, so the response is based on your data rather than on general claims.

Should I block AI crawlers?

Publishers with content they license may choose to. For most businesses that want to be found, blocking GPTBot, PerplexityBot or Google-Extended removes you from the sources those systems can cite. I review the crawlers hitting your server, explain what each one feeds, and let you decide per crawler with the trade-off stated.

Does this work for Nepali businesses and Nepali-language queries?

AI Overviews and assistant coverage for Nepal and for Nepali-language queries is behind English-speaking markets and expanding. The foundations (answer-first pages, consistent entity information, structured data, mentions on the sites the systems draw on) are worth doing now because they also improve ordinary rankings and local results, and the tracking baseline shows when coverage arrives for your queries.
