Why a UK business would hire an SEO specialist in Nepal
The UK has no shortage of SEO agencies. What is scarce is a senior person who will personally work on your account for a fee a small or mid-sized business can carry, and who can be reached without going through an account manager. That is the gap this arrangement fills.
- Cost. My fees are set by Kathmandu costs. For the same scope of senior work you would expect to pay 40% to 60% less than a comparable UK or Western agency rate, quoted and invoiced in GBP.
- Time zone. Nepal is GMT+5:45, four and three quarter hours ahead of the UK on BST and five and three quarter hours ahead on GMT. My working day starts before yours, so fixes made in my morning are live when you open your laptop, and calls sit in your morning or, when you need an afternoon slot, my evening.
- Identical tools and results. Ahrefs, Semrush, Screaming Frog, Search Console, GA4, Google Tag Manager and Google Ads work the same from here. The results I study are google.co.uk for your towns and your service terms, not the Nepali index.
- One person, start to finish. I do the audit, the implementation, the briefs, the ad campaigns and the report. Nothing is passed to a junior after the pitch, because there is no junior.
What I can and cannot show you yet
Honesty first, because it is the fastest way to be useful. I do not yet have a published UK case study. The results I can show with numbers and method are a Nepali tourism business whose organic traffic grew 180% in six months, an Australian mortgage brokerage whose cost per acquisition fell 35% in 60 days, and a Kathmandu fertility clinic that generated more than 150 leads at around NPR 180 each. They are in the case studies, and the businesses I have worked with are named on the clients page. The Australian work is the closest analogue to a UK engagement: an English-speaking market, a regulated industry, and a client eight hours away who never met me in person. That page is SEO expert for Australian businesses.
What SEO for a UK business involves
- Technical audit and fixes: crawling, indexing, Core Web Vitals, canonicals, schema and the damage left by redesigns and platform migrations. See technical SEO.
- Keyword research for UK search behaviour: British spelling and vocabulary, county and town modifiers, and the commercial terms competitors are already bidding on in Google Ads.
- Local SEO for businesses serving a town or region: Google Business Profile, location pages, citations and reviews. See local SEO and, for chains, multi-location SEO.
- Content strategy and briefs with one intent per page, written in British English, plus writing for smaller sites. See content SEO.
- Link building through genuine UK and industry outreach and digital PR angles, not bought placements. See link building.
- eCommerce and B2B specialisms where they apply: eCommerce SEO and B2B SEO.
- Paid search alongside organic where it earns its place, described on Google Ads management for UK businesses.
- Reporting in Looker Studio built on your own GA4 and Search Console data, leading with enquiries and revenue.
Fees, invoicing and VAT
Fees are quoted per scope after the discovery call and invoiced monthly in GBP, paid by bank transfer or Wise. Engagements are month to month; there is no twelve-month lock-in. Prices for the shapes of engagement below are on request.
| Engagement | What it covers | Fee |
|---|---|---|
| SEO audit and roadmap | Technical audit, keyword map, prioritized fix list, handover call | On request |
| Monthly SEO retainer | Implementation, content briefs, links, reporting, monthly call | On request |
| SEO plus Google Ads | The retainer above plus paid search management | On request |
On tax: services supplied from Nepal by a non-UK supplier fall outside UK VAT, and a UK business customer normally accounts for the transaction itself under the reverse charge. Your accountant should confirm how that applies to you.
A UK agency, a UK freelancer, or an offshore specialist?
| Option | Strength | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| UK agency | Depth of team, in-person meetings, PR and creative under one roof | Higher fees, your account often worked on by juniors, longer contracts |
| UK freelancer | Senior attention, same time zone, easy to meet | Senior UK day rates; capacity limits when they take another client |
| Large offshore firm | Volume of content and links at low unit cost | Account managers between you and the work; staff turnover on your account |
| Solo offshore specialist | Senior judgment at a lower fee, direct contact | No same-city meetings; you should check the proof carefully before hiring |
If you are weighing these up generally, hire an SEO expert sets out the engagement models and freelance SEO expert explains what a senior freelancer actually delivers.
How a UK engagement runs
- Free 30-minute discovery call in your morning, on Zoom or Google Meet.
- Proposal within 48 hours in GBP, with scope, deliverables and what success will be measured on.
- Onboarding inside your own Google properties, with tracking verified and a baseline recorded before anything changes.
- Audit and quick wins in the first two weeks.
- Monthly implementation cycle with written weekly updates by email or Slack; I reply within 4 business hours on business days.
- Monthly report and call, and a review at 90 days against the goals we set at the start.
Access, invoicing and communication for overseas clients are covered on working with international clients. UK agencies that want white-label delivery should read outsource digital marketing to Nepal.
Start with an audit, not a contract
Request a free SEO audit and I will record a walk-through of what is holding your site back in google.co.uk and what I would fix first. If you would rather talk, book a call. Businesses selling into more than one country should also read international SEO, and my other market pages are Australia and the USA.
