Targeting options include: in-market audiences (actively researching), affinity audiences (long-term interests), custom intent audiences (keyword/URL-based), remarketing lists, topic targeting, placement targeting (specific sites). When Display Ads Work β and When They Don’t
They work for remarketing (high ROAS), brand awareness at scale, eCommerce dynamic remarketing, top-of-funnel B2B brand building. They don’t work as a primary direct-response channel for unknown brands, low-budget accounts, or niches with little audience signal. Cold Display targeting with small budgets is typically wasted spend.
