Small Business & Startup SEO Services

My small business SEO services are the starter version of everything on this site: one location or one product line, a tight keyword set, the technical and profile fixes that matter first, one good page a month, and honest advice about what a limited budget can and cannot do. For small businesses in Nepal from USD 500 a month, and for startups here and abroad that need SEO for startups without an agency retainer.

  • From USD 500 a month, month to month
  • One consultant, no account managers
  • Clinics, cafes, law offices, consultancies, trekking agencies

What small business SEO can do on a small budget

Most small businesses in Kathmandu, Pokhara or Sydney do not need a content programme and a link campaign. They need to appear in the map pack for their service, have a website that loads and explains what they do, rank for a handful of specific searches, and receive the enquiries those searches produce. That is achievable on a modest budget because most local competitors have done none of it. Small business SEO, within my SEO services, is the disciplined version of that: a small keyword set chosen for enquiries rather than traffic, the fixes in the order that pays back soonest, and no spending on things the business does not need yet. When a business does need more, I say so, and the SEO packages and pricing page shows what the next tier adds.

Who this is for

  • Single-location businesses: a clinic, a dental practice, a cafe, a law office, a consultancy, a showroom, a gym, a trekking agency with one office.
  • Startups with one product or service that need the foundation right before they have the budget to scale.
  • Businesses that have been burned by an agency package of “50 backlinks and 10 blog posts a month” and want to know what actually matters.
  • Small businesses abroad that want a senior consultant at a rate that fits a small budget, 40 to 60% below comparable local agencies.

What the starter plan covers

  • Initial audit: a crawl of the site, Search Console review, profile check and competitor snapshot, producing a short list of what to fix in order.
  • Keyword set: up to fifteen mapped terms, chosen for intent and enquiry value, with one primary term per page, from my keyword research method scaled down.
  • Critical technical fixes on WordPress: indexing, speed basics, mobile problems, broken links, sitemap and the security issues that unmaintained sites accumulate.
  • Google Business Profile optimization for the location: categories, services, photos, posts, Q&A and a review request routine, as on my Google Business Profile optimization page.
  • Homepage and up to five core pages optimized: titles, headings, copy that answers the search, internal links, images and schema.
  • One new page or article a month from a brief, targeting a search that leads to an enquiry.
  • Citations and mention reclamation rather than outreach, because outreach at this budget cannot fund enough links to matter.
  • Tracking and a monthly report: GA4 and profile data, rankings for the mapped terms, and the enquiries that came from search.

How the first three months run

  1. Month one: foundation. Audit, keyword set, profile rebuilt, critical technical fixes, homepage and top service page rewritten.
  2. Month two: core pages. Remaining core pages optimized, location page published, citations corrected, review routine started, first new page.
  3. Month three: measure and decide. Rankings and profile interactions reviewed against the baseline; a recommendation to continue at Starter, move up, or pause with the foundation in place.

Three months is the minimum that shows whether the plan is working; engagements are month to month after that.

What a small budget cannot do

  • Rank for the broadest terms in a competitive market (“SEO Nepal”, “lawyer Sydney”) against businesses spending ten times more. The plan targets terms that can be won.
  • Fund a content programme or a link campaign. It funds one good page a month and the citations that matter.
  • Fix a site that needs rebuilding. If the site is beyond repair, I will say so and quote the rebuild separately through my WordPress development service.
  • Produce results in weeks. Profile changes show in one to two months in Nepal; page rankings in three to six.

Mistakes small businesses make with SEO

  • Buying the cheapest package, which is usually directory links and generic articles, then concluding SEO does not work.
  • Paying for a new website every two years and never for the search work that would make any of them earn.
  • Ignoring the Google profile, which is free and does more for a local business than the website.
  • Targeting one big keyword instead of fifteen specific ones.
  • Stopping after two months because rankings had not moved yet.

What you receive

The audit and keyword set, an optimized and verified Google profile, the technical fixes, optimized core pages, one new page a month, corrected citations, and a monthly report that shows enquiries alongside rankings. The local SEO checklist for Nepal lists what you can do yourself before or alongside the engagement.

Frequently asked questions

How much does SEO cost for a small business in Nepal?

My Starter tier is USD 500 a month, month to month after an initial three months. One-off work such as a profile setup or a technical fix is quoted separately. International small businesses are invoiced in their own currency at rates 40 to 60% below comparable local agency fees.

Is NPR 15,000 a month enough to get results?

For a single-location business in low to medium competition, yes: a correct profile, a fixed site, optimized core pages and a small keyword set are usually enough to enter the map pack and rank for specific service terms within three to six months. For competitive Kathmandu categories or any competitive market abroad, it is a foundation rather than a growth plan, and I will tell you which applies after the audit.

Can I do some of the work myself to save money?

Yes. Photos, posts and review requests on the Google profile, and writing first drafts of pages from my briefs, are things owners do well. I provide the checklist and the briefs and handle the technical, structural and keyword work. The local SEO checklist on this site is the starting point.

Is this different for a startup?

Startups usually have a new domain with no authority and a product that is still being defined, so the plan puts more weight on getting the technical foundation, the keyword set and the core pages right before spending on content, and on searches that validate demand. The budget and the monthly rhythm are the same; the priorities shift.

What happens if I stop after three months?

You keep everything: the fixed site, the optimized pages, the verified profile, the citations and the keyword map. Rankings earned from that foundation continue, though they will not grow without new content and will slip if competitors keep working. There is no lock-in and no penalty for pausing, and many clients return when the business is ready for the next tier.
