The short answer

For most industries in Nepal, a click on a Google search ad costs somewhere between NPR 5 and NPR 50. Competitive sectors such as finance, insurance and legal see NPR 50 to 200 or more per click. On top of ad spend, my management runs on the same three monthly tiers as every other service here, starting at USD 500 a month. A first budget that produces enough data to optimize is usually NPR 30,000 to 50,000 a month in ad spend. Everything below explains where those ranges come from and why yours may differ.

Average cost per click in Nepal

Nepal remains an inexpensive market compared with Australia, the UK or the USA, because fewer advertisers compete for each search and the auction sets the price. The ranges I see, by industry:

IndustryTypical CPC range (NPR)Why
Local services (repairs, salons, tuition)5 to 20Few advertisers, local intent
Hospitality, tourism, restaurants10 to 40Seasonal competition, some international advertisers
Healthcare and clinics20 to 60High-value patients, growing competition
Education and study abroad consultancies20 to 80Many consultancies bidding on the same terms
Real estate20 to 80High ticket, developer budgets
Finance, insurance, remittance, legal50 to 200+Highest customer value, most competition

These are search campaign ranges. Display and YouTube clicks are far cheaper but far less likely to convert.

What moves your cost per click

  • Keyword competition. “IVF cost Kathmandu” has more bidders than “physiotherapy Lalitpur”. Long, specific queries are cheaper and often convert better.
  • Quality Score. Google discounts clicks for ads and landing pages that match the search. In the Better Broking case study, taking Quality Score from 5 to 8 was part of a 35% drop in cost per acquisition.
  • Match types and negatives. Broad match with no negative keywords buys clicks you did not want; that is the single most common waste in Nepali accounts I audit.
  • Bidding strategy. Manual CPC keeps clicks cheap but ignores conversion likelihood; Target CPA needs conversion data first. Switching too early is expensive.
  • Location and schedule. Kathmandu Valley only, or all of Nepal? Office hours only, when someone can answer the phone?
  • Device. Most Nepal searches are on mobile; if the landing page is slow on a phone, you pay for clicks that bounce.

Cost per click is not the number that matters

Cost per lead is. A NPR 40 click with a 5% landing page conversion rate gives a NPR 800 lead; a NPR 15 click with a 1% conversion rate gives a NPR 1,500 lead. The cheaper click is the worse deal. This is why conversion tracking has to exist before a budget can be judged, and why landing pages are part of every campaign I run rather than an afterthought; see Google Ads conversion tracking and PPC landing page design.

Management fees in Nepal

My Google Ads management is priced in three monthly tiers, the same three that apply to SEO and Meta Ads: Starter at USD 500 a month for a simple single-campaign Nepal account, Growth at USD 900 a month once there are several campaign types, markets or a Shopping feed to run, and Enterprise quoted after scoping. The fee is separate from the ad budget you pay Google, and it covers account structure, keyword research, ad copy and testing, conversion tracking, weekly optimisation and a monthly report that talks about leads and cost per lead rather than clicks. Full scope per tier is on the Google Ads packages page. Be cautious of management priced as a percentage of spend at small budgets, and of anyone who cannot show you conversion tracking in the account.

How to set a first budget

  1. Decide what a lead is worth. If a customer is worth NPR 20,000 in profit and you close one in five leads, a lead is worth up to NPR 4,000.
  2. Estimate cost per lead. Take the CPC range for your industry and a realistic conversion rate for a decent landing page.
  3. Buy enough leads to learn. You need dozens of conversions, not a handful, before the numbers mean anything. For most Nepal businesses that lands at NPR 30,000 to 50,000 a month in ad spend for the first two to three months; healthcare and finance often need more because clicks cost more.
  4. Review at 30 days and again at 60. Cut what is not converting, move budget to what is, and only then consider automated bidding.

The Google Ads budget calculator does this arithmetic from your own numbers.

Paying Google from Nepal

Nepali advertisers pay Google Ads with an internationally enabled card, and under Nepal Rastra Bank rules an individual prepaid dollar card is capped at USD 500 a year, an April 2026 amendment lets banks set their own prepaid-card limits, and registered IT and communication businesses can hold cards for online services of up to USD 3,000 a year, or USD 5,000 where they earn foreign currency. Check your bank’s current policy before planning a budget, because a payment failure pauses the account mid-campaign.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum budget for Google Ads in Nepal?

There is no platform minimum, but a budget too small to produce a few dozen conversions in a month cannot be optimized. For most Nepal businesses I suggest NPR 30,000 to 50,000 a month in ad spend for the first two to three months, then adjusting from the measured cost per lead.

Is Google Ads cheaper than Facebook Ads in Nepal?

Per click, usually not; per qualified lead, often yes for services people already search for, because the intent is higher. For products people do not yet search for, Facebook is usually cheaper per lead. The comparison post covers when each wins.

Does the management fee include ad spend?

No. Ad spend is paid by you directly to Google from your own payment method; the management fee is separate and pays for the work. Keep the two apart on your reports and make sure the account is in your name.
